Through this poignant novel, Sandrine Lambin addresses with precision the issue of domestic violence , a universal subject that transcends cultures. In Japan too, this violence has long been silent , hidden behind the notion of gaman (我慢) — endurance, the act of enduring without complaining — and uchi no koto (内のこと), that which belongs to the private sphere.
