Sho Dō Calligraphy Workshop

The Shodō Japanese calligraphy workshop, led by Satoru Toma at ThéRâPie , is an invitation to explore the poetry of writing. At the crossroads of writing and drawing, Shodō links breath and gesture, forming a living and pictorial writing. Using the brush as an extension of oneself, each participant will be guided to work with the whole body to create a fluid and energetic line.

The term Shodō (書道), literally meaning "the way of writing", emphasizes the path taken more than the final result. In this workshop, the process takes precedence: each movement is a step towards a creative letting go, allowing each stroke to reflect the present moment. The more the practice progresses, the more personal interpretation comes naturally, transforming each character into a unique poetic work.
