Calligraphy Workshop - Sho Dō

The Shodō Japanese calligraphy workshop, led by Satoru Toma at ThéRâPie , is an invitation to explore the poetry of writing. At the crossroads of writing and drawing, Shodō links breath and gesture, forming a vibrant and evocative form of writing. Using the brush as an extension of oneself, each participant will be guided to work with their entire body to create a fluid and energetic stroke.

The term Shodō (書道), literally meaning "the way of writing," emphasizes the journey rather than the final result. In this workshop, the process takes precedence: each movement is a step toward creative release, allowing each stroke to reflect the present moment. The more practice progresses, the more natural personal interpretation becomes, transforming each character into a unique poetic work.
