Japanese calligraphy Sho-Dô

Satoru Toma began studying "Sho-Dô" (Sho 書 "writing" and Dô 道 "the way") – Japanese calligraphy – with a calligraphy master at the age of nine. In his practice, Satoru Toma pushes this technique further, using intentional accidents or invented tools to inscribe energy and breath onto the paper.
