The history of Shigaraki

Shigaraki is one of the six historic cradles of Japanese ceramics. Its exceptional clays and ancestral techniques produce ceramics in warm natural colours (ochre, brown, orange) with characteristic organic textures.

Every Shigaraki ceramic is unique. Variations in colour, nuances in the glaze and natural effects make your piece a work of art in its own right. These “imperfections” are the signature of authentic craftsmanship and embody the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi: beauty in the imperfect nature of things.

Suitable for everyday use while remaining a collector's piece.
